কৃষিকে আধুনিকায়ন ও লাভকরণের নামে দেশী-বিদেশী পুঁজির বিনিয়োগ ঘটায় অস্তিত্ব সংকটে পড়বে কৃষক সমাজ। এদেশের কৃষি উৎপাদন ও বণ্টন এখনো ব্যক্তিগত। কিন্তু দেশী-বিদেশী পুঁজির মালিকরা তাদের মুনাফার স্বার্থে এইক্ষেত্রে হয়তো সামাজিক উৎপাদন চালু করতে পারে। এতে ছোট, মাঝারী এমনকি ধনী কৃষকরা জমি হারানোর শংকায় থাকবে। কারণ বৃহৎ পুঁজির আধুনিক উৎপাদনের সাথে কৃষকদের ছোট পুরনো উৎপাদন পদ্ধতি কোনভাবেই টিকতে পারবে না। অন্যদিকে যারা টিকে থাকবে তাদের কাছেও বিক্রি করবে তাদের আধুনিক কৃষি যন্ত্রাংশ । ফলে কৃষির পুরো নিয়ন্ত্রণই সাম্রাজ্যবাদী লগ্নি পুঁজি ও দালাল পুঁজির খপ্পরে চলে যাওয়ার শংকা রয়েছে। এতে বিপন্ন হয়ে যেতে পারে কৃষক সমাজ। বাড়তে থাকবে ভূমিহীন, গরীব ও সর্বহারা মানুষের সংখ্যা। যারা মজুর হিসেবে আবার পুজিপতিগোষ্ঠীর কৃষি খামারে শ্রম দিতে বাধ্য থাকবে। এমনাবস্থায় এদেশের কৃষক সমাজকে এখনি সচেতন ও সংগঠিত হয়ে আন্দোলন-সংগ্রাম গড়ে না তুললে এক ভয়াবহ ধ্বংসযজ্ঞের দিকে এগিয়ে যেতে হবে। তবে এই আন্দোলন শুধু কৃষকদের একার নয়। এখন যেসব মধ্যস্বত্ত্বভোগীরা কৃষি পণ্য সিন্ডিকেট করে একদিকে কৃষকদের ঠকায় অন্যদিকে শহরের ভোক্তাদের ঠকায় তারাও অস্তিত্ব সংকটে পড়বে। কেননা একচেটিয়া লগ্নিকারী গোষ্ঠী মধ্যস্বত্ত্বসহ সামগ্রিক সিন্ডিকেটই নিয়ন্ত্রণ করে। ফলে দেশে কৃষি উৎপাদিত খাদ্য সামগ্রির দাম কোথায় গিয়ে ঠিকবে তা এই মূহুর্তে অনুমান করা যায় না। সে জন্য কৃষকদের আজকের সমস্যা শুধু কৃষকদের একার নয়। একইধারে এটা জাতীয় সমস্যা এবং কৃষি থেকে সামন্তীয় ব্যবস্থা উচ্ছেদের প্রশ্নের সাথে জড়িত ।
